The
logo of the Amazonian Ecological Preserve has a deep meaning
that flows from the heart of our foundress, Elizabeth Radovicz.
When she enters the Amazon, the wonder and excitement is overwhelming.
The vastness of the region allows one to reflect on how minute
we are as individuals. The ocean of green produces a wave
of life sustaining oxygen that the entire world depends upon.
The microclimate zones over the Amazon basin produce a vast
rainfall, which is maintained by the rainforest’s condensation.
The Amazon basin is a life-giving organ of the world.
The
hourglass represents the time humankind has to protect
the Amazon. Time is running out to save the Amazon rain forest.
The limited time is represented by the half full world
at the bottom of the hourglass. The top picture within the
hourglass is an Indian that is superimposed on the map of Brasil.
He is wearing ceremonial paint which is of the Brasilian Indian
culture. The destruction of the rainforest brings tears
to the Indian’s
eyes. The flowing of the tears through the hourglass represents the cry for
help. The lower half of the hourglass with the half filled
globe represents wasted time . The destruction of the rain
forest compromises the Amazon and its nurturing functions.
We have a wake-up call to preserve the rain forest and
to use our resources wisely. The time is Now!
