The AEPF will raise funds to accomplish the goals of the non-profit corporation and we will sponsor projects that fulfill the mission statement and goals of the preserve. The preserve can accept funding from charitable, private and government sources and through revenues generated by operations of the preserve.
The non-profit status will be maintained to provide charitable tax donation receipts to donors of cash gifts, assets and property. The AEPF, a non-profit corporation in the United States, will transfer materials and funds as approved by our board of directors until the foundation in Brazil is fully functional. The sister foundation in Brazil will directly implement and accomplish the goals of the AEPF in Brazil.
The AEPF will promote the restoration of damaged and deforested areas of rainforest. We will support projects and the development of projects that repair the damaged rainforest by replanting with indigenous trees to encourage the return of the animals. The AEPF has purchased some damaged rainforest and will be purchasing additional farm and grazing lands in addition to virgin rainforest. We will support projects that will reduce or prevent deforestation. The farm and grazing lands where the soil nutrients have been depleted will be reconstituted with organic methods of fertilization, composting and crop rotation. The emphasis will be the prevention of additional destruction and to create more reusable farmland. New and efficient ways to produce food and products will be encouraged. Efficient farming will reduce the need to burn more rainforest and the incorporation of modern organic techniques will save the soil and increase productivity. Our staff will practice methods of farming with crop rotation, composting and organic fertilization that will demonstrate how to live productively without destroying the land.
The AEPF will promote the teaching, research and practice of fish farming and the preservation of the natural stocks of indigenous fish. This will produce an increased yield of fish for sustenance. Sport fishing in the wild as a recreational sport will be encouraged to be catch- and- release with a daily bag and size limit. Elimination of commercial fishing and prohibition of net use in our waters will help increase the local supply of fish.
Lands will be purchased and there will be an assessment of life cycles of insect species, indigenous wild life and the migratory species. The tree and jungle flora will be assessed in the upper canopy, the lower canopy, terra firma and waterways. Research will be encouraged by the local universities for biological classifications of the flora and fauna and to determine medical and other beneficial uses of plants.
We have created a website for information and educational purposes. It includes a forum for exchange of ideas. We hold monthly meetings and programs. We also lecture at local schools and for community organizations.
We are instructing the local people on the use of medications and nutritional supplements available over the counter including gathering information on use of local herbs for medicinal purposes. We provide support to local clinics for medical equipment and supplies as well as facilitate doctor and dentist visits. We provide shoes, clothing and personal hygiene items for needy families. We provide instruction on emergency first aid.
We are following a step by step procedure to establish a sister foundation in Brazil to receive non-profit funds. These funds will be used to implement goals and projects of the AEPF. This will provide a means of sustaining the preserve for future generations.
